Travel Guide: Cuba, 2017

My full post on my trip to Cuba is now up and dedicated to the Cuban people wherever you are in the world. Going to UM (Go Canes!), I had many Cuban friends and professors, but never fully appreciated their history until I went and saw for myself what life in Havana is like. I’m sure so much will change- when I was there a new announcement on revisions to the 1966 Cuban Adjustment Act, specifically 1995’s “Dry Feet – Wet Feet” policy. My tour guide was immediately excited as she received the phone call of the news while dropping us at our hotel. Her daughter lives in the USA and they haven’t seen each other in over four years despite her attempts to apply multiple times for visas. The lifted embargo will certainly open up opportunities for Cuba, but it will also change a place that is so special because it’s “frozen in time.” I’m no political expert and it’s a very complicated situation, but I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to those that made my trip so special! Check out my Cuba Travel Guide in the link below and can’t wait to return soon!

Travel Guide: Detroit, 2016

Detroit has been in the news frequently lately. It’s historical significance as the birthplace of American ingenuity and manufacturing has been replaced with a tale of abandonment and urban decay. But, the city has been regenerating itself! Local businesses are returning and it has become a favorite of designers, students, and adventurers alike. I’ve been wanting to go for a few years now and finally got the chance during this past long Thanksgiving weekend. Check out my Detroit Travel Guide in the link below and can’t wait to return soon!

Travel Guide: Northern Italy, Summer 2016

I finally had time to finish out my trip planning guide for Northern Italy from this past summer. August, for me, is a fantastic time to do extended European vacations and last summer took me on a road/train trip through Milan, Venice, Burano, Vicenza, Verona, Lake Como, San Pellengrino, Bergamo, Bellinzona, and a bunch of little towns along the way. November is the perfect time to start planning your summer trips- a big plus to our vacation was a home exchange in Lake Como that became our base for the second part of the trip. Check out details below!

Travel Guide: Philippines, 2016

I haven’t been to the Philippines since I was a little girl. Being half Filipino, it’s always interesting returning to a place that your ancestors once had roots. Today, the Philippines is known as a premiere destination for diving, snorkeling, and boating, but it is so much more than that. Aside from having the warmest and friendliest people in the world, the Philippines has deep cultural traditions and diverse locales to offer for any type of adventurer. I cannot recommend it enough as your next destination, and I’m excited to return in the near future. See below for my full Travel Guide.
